President Bush carried the 2nd Congressional District by 16 points over U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) in 2004 (57-41 percent) and by 20 points over Vice President Gore in 2000 (57-37 percent).
According to a recent poll conducted by Research 2000, U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) currently leads U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) by just 2 points in the 2nd Congressional District.
