Will Barr tilt NV to Obama?

Last week we speculated that especially in Nevada, U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) may be hurt more by third party candidates than his opponent, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.). A recent online survey by Zogby International conducted between June 11-30 seems to support that scenario.

The poll, which has a margin of error of +/-4.1 percent, found that voters in the Silver State are evenly split between McCain and Obama, 38 percent - 38 percent, with only 64 percent of Republicans currently supporting McCain. And though Independent candidate Ralph Nader draws just 2 percent of the vote, the Libertarian ticket headed by Bob Barr garners a respectable 9 percent. Even if the current level of support for third party candidates drops by November, there is still a strong possibility that they could draw enough votes from the major party candidates to determine the outcome.
