Ron Paul has found an angel in Nevada who is offering to sponsor the state GOP convention, part two.
This is an interesting problem for the Nevada Republican Party. If they don't host the rest of the convention soon, odds are lawsuits will start to fly from disenfranchised Revolutionaries.
If they show up for the rest of the convention, there is the possibility that it will never begin because of quorum concerns. The Ron Paul group had a well-organized team with impressive numbers. They were a simple majority, but did not have a supermajority. For the delegates other than the Ron Paul supporters, there will be no motivation to take time and a few hundred dollars to fly to Reno to help support an outcome that you have already voted against. If there is no quorum, the state GOP is off the hook. But could the Ron Paul campaign turn the roughly 100 delegates they need for a quorum? It's possible. Improbable, but possible.
The irony meter will go off the chart in Reno with this scenario: The state GOP agrees to the convention, they fall 50 votes short of a quorum, and the Revolution is screaming that they have been disenfranchised by a minority of the delegates. With almost no possibility of serious follow-up lawsuits since the party went along with dates suggested by the campaign, this would get the state GOP off the hook for their convention commitment. But can the Revolution find those 100 delegates? It is a gamble on both sides.
I have made it perfectly clear in this column that my prediction is that this game will end, and will end without Dr. Paul being the nominee. At best he is an improved version of Ross Perot, and that is if he decides to take on an independent campaign for the general election.
Although the end of the game is inevitable, the next few moves should be fun to watch. My prediction is that the state GOP takes the bait and ends up attending the convention finale. I doubt the Revolution would have come up with dates and the money without a plan. One thing is definite, the trick aces on both sides of this fight will prove to be good entertainment either way.

Ha ha there is another avenue in at the convention to beat the quorum. Its an old trick but I predict it will work and if the Reno GOP dosn't make it, they will lose big time.
Stay tuned, same time, same place, same bat channel
Conventions are only for the party suckers
It's lose-lose for the repugs any way they go. About the only way to get everybody happy is to hold their convention in Disneyland.

For Christ's sakes people,
For Christ's sakes people, don't you realize that this is just another way for the Republican party, no wait let me rephrase that, the government, to control who votes for whom!? I was at the convention in Reno. The only reason they adjourned in the first place was because out of the crowd, there were maybe 20% of people there supporting John mcCain. They took a break because us Ron Paul supporters would not allow them to make and break rules allowing only thoes supporting McCain to go to the Nataion Convention. You wouldn't believe the roaring applause Ron Paul got after his speech. Standing ovation after standing ovation (minus the 3 McCain supporters next to me) Ron Paul does need all the help he can get spreading his message of freedom and getting votes wherever he can .Otherwise there will be a clueless black man as our President who will legalize a National ID card to track you & your family's every move. Even worse, McCain will swindle and scam his way into the oval office to wage war on whom ever he so chooses on a day to day basis.

What does Obama's race have anything to do with this?
You made some good points, but why specifically point out that Obama is black? For the record, he is also part white. Who cares?
The traditional conservative libertarian movement that Ron Paul has helped so much in the past year is hurt by personal attacks on the people who hold other viewpoints (not that pointing out his race was an attack).
Wally Edge = Chuck Muth
Every single Ron Paul state delegate will show up at the reconvention. That is correct 575~600 will show up.
All the party has to do is choose to do the right thing. They have had this option all along but have not chosen it.
The still have the option. And they continue to not choose it.
It appears that Muth is advising the party to do a mail in ballot "do over" vote. And Wally says that a reconvention will be a fiasco?!?!??!
That's a laugh.
Funny
Obama is a black racist, Clinton is a cold b1#$&, McCain is a senile incompetent, and Ron Paul is not going to win... Im not looking forward to election season because I want to vote, then I think about my choices and wonder who the F$%^ to vote for? Came to the conclusion we should all just study local propositions, and stuff that matters because contrary to popular belief it doesn't really matter who we end up with.
seems like yet another
seems like yet another article which completely avoids the real issue..
the GOP can never be "off the hook" because we already had a convention and Mccain lost. Anything taking place any time or anywhere will not suffice because we already had the convention but Republican leadership in Nevada has much of the same mindset as that of a 8 year old kid who loses to his dad at chess. They think they can just knock over some pieces or maybe even toss the board but in the end they can not save face.
Sore losers. If I were Mccain I would have asked for the Ron Paul delegates to be sent to St Paul. This is bad for his campaign and bad for the party. Beers and Lowden should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.
Go Nevada delegates!
Please let us know if there is anything We the People can do to help in any way.
Juan McWar
He's sinister, that Juan McWar.
Who is to blame?
ROFLCOPTER, you've certainly pegged the candidates in a nutshell quite nicely -- scary choices, eh?
So, who do we have to blame that Ron Paul is not going to win?
Well, I will list who we have to blame:
1. Our fascist voting system -- machines with no paper trail, secret ballot counting, skullduggery with recounts and futile efforts to change it.
2. The mainstream media with their propaganda, blackouts and ridicule of Ron Paul (i.e., "electability: do you have any?" and "you take your marching orders from Al Qaeda?")
3. The McDonald's-fed and American Idol-loving population of apathetic, close-minded citizens who think everything is just fine and don't want to be bothered with what's really going on around them in their own country.
Is it enough of a consolation "prize" that instead of Ron Paul becoming President, his message is at least being heard? That's all we can hold on to for now. But meanwhile, the delegates will continue to scratch for dear life and shout for liberty at the conventions...
As for that "mail-in ballot"...
As for that "mail-in ballot," just who should it be addressed to -- The Diebold Corporation or George Bush c/o John McCain?
For Christ's Sake
...so why isn't anyone doing anything to impeach the whole damned government? Remember, WE THE PEOPLE?? We aren't supposed to be afraid of the government. If we are, thats an indication that tyranny is afoot..
Be afraid,be very afraid!!!
Be afraid,be very afraid!!!
hmmm
well your probably right,Mccain will win but he will also lose by a landslide in the general,so if your a republican and vote mccain your gonna throw the election, NEVER SAY NEVER until ST. Paul , RON PAUL 2008 by the time the convention rolls around mccain will be dead in the water and our only choice leftto win is RON PAUL,hell ,my parents whoarelife long dems would votefor Ron Paul, mccain is already dead in the water. It's a shame theparty is to deaf dumb and blind to understand they have lost already with mccain, ooo welll cest la vie
The reason the Gop really
The reason the Gop really Don't Care
Those who wish to push one world Gov are in both parties. They would rather see a Dem win than have Ron Paul set back their plans 60 years!! Call me crazy.I call you stupid!!!!!
Wake Up America!!
Ron Paul CAN win!!!
Why do people give up and say that Ron Paul won't win, so they're not voting for him?!! If everyone who thought that DID vote for him, he COULD win! In other countries, the government forces people to vote their way by only allowing their candidates on the ballot. In this country, the government controlled media uses human nature to manipulate the voters and get them to THINK that the only possible winners are their candidates. The outcome is no different! Would our founding fathers be manipulated like that by the British government? No! If we all vote for Ron Paul, he CAN win, but only if YOU vote for him! Be a patriot! Stay free, America!!!
