Casino winnings drop
By Wally EdgeThe AP is reporting that Nevada casino winnings dropped 1.5% in March compared with the same month a year ago. This further softening of the Nevada economy also was the ninth consecutive monthly drop for the Reno-Sparks-North Tahoe area.
If the trend continues it will be increasingly difficult for Gov. Gibbons to make ends meet with the state budget, and the odds of an off-year special session continue to increase as the financial forecast collects more storm clouds.
