Flying private to save dough?

The state is asking air charters to show if there would be cost savings to have chartered flights to and from Las Vegas for official state travel.

The state spent over $3 million last year on official travel with the airlines. Full story here.

Under the "where credit is due" clause in reporting that seems to be forgotten from time to time, I want to send you a partial quote from a GOP operative who has been resolute in sending me defense after defense of the Governor. He's got a point, so I'm giving him some ink.

See what happens when you send Wally your spin on the news? I print it if its accurate, fair, and well-written. I never really cared for the balanced part of "fair & balanced" so just make it sound like a fair argument.

This quote shows it done well, as it makes even the vicious anti-Gibbons crowd pause for just a minute:

"Governor Jim Gibbons has reached across party lines to find ways to cut the budget and keep a campaign promise not to raise taxes. Now he's getting state employees to try innovative solutions to further reduce costs. He's had a lion's share of problems, but he's getting this one right."
