Sean Hannity is a big fat idiot

It doesn't get much better on FOX than seeing the rare sight of Alan Colmes emerging from his protective shell and exposing Sean Hannity for the idiotic, hypocritical windbag he is.

Only three incumbent Governors have lost re-election since Jewett Adams lost in 1886 -- Bob List was one of them

Robert List was part of a group of young prosecutors who once played a major role in Nevada politics. List's rise in politics was meteoric: he was 31-years-old when he was elected Ormsby County District Attorney in 1966 (a post Paul Laxalt held in the 1950's), and was elected state Attorney General four years later.

List, at 42, won election as Governor in 1978. He won 82% in the GOP primary, and defeated Democrat Robert Rose (who became Lieutenant Governor when Harry Reid ran against Laxalt for the U.S. Senate in 1974) by a 56%-40% margin.

McCain builds Nevada organization, leads new poll

Ariz. Sen. John McCain campaigns in Michigan.: Getty Images PhotoAriz. Sen. John McCain campaigns in Michigan.: Getty Images PhotoRepublican presidential hopeful John McCain has opened his first campaign offices in Nevada and is furiously building a staff here, according to Paul Jackson, McCain’s Nevada state director.  These moves come as a new poll by the Reno Gazette-Journal shows McCain with a lead in the state for the first time since May.

“We’ve been working day and night,” said Jackson, describing McCain’s newly-minted Nevada effort.  “Little sleep and lots of coffee.”

Nevada’s Jan. 19 Republican caucus has been largely overlooked by the Republican field, with the exceptions of former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney and Tex. Congressman Ron Paul, as they’ve focused instead on Michigan’s primary Tuesday and South Carolina’s Saturday.  Despite McCain’s new efforts here, his campaign will have a lot of catching up to do to compete with the strong organization that Romney, in particular, has built in the state.

Who gets the credit for the GOP winner?

With GOP presidential candidates largely ignoring the Nevada presidential caucus on Saturday -- Ron Paul is the only Republican scheduled to be in the state this week -- the contest may offer some evidence as to the value of endorsements in a race that may be wide open. Here's a list of our GOP stakeholders, along with their percentage in the Reno Gazette-Journal poll - which suggests the possibility of a four-way contest on the Republican side:

If McCain wins, is Ensign off the short list?

If John McCain wins the Republican nomination for President, expect pundits to remove U.S. Senator John Ensign from the list of potential running mates: it is unlikely that the Senator from Arizona would pick a Republican from an adjoining state as his Vice Presidential candidate.  There has been some speculation that Ensign could wind up under consideration for the national ticket with one of the other candidates, more likely Rudy Giuliani.
