    Reid sees state staying blue

Who owns the state?  U.S. Sen. Harry Reid (D-Searchlight) owns the state.  He doesn't appear to be willing to give it up to anyone else any time soon.

From a story in R-J this morning:

"A permanent change has taken place" among voters, Reid said, including a boost in turnout and Democratic support among Hispanics, and shifts in places such as Nevada's Washoe County, which voted blue this year after 30 years of supporting Republicans.

"This is not going to change," Reid said. "If we do our job by letting the American people know this was not a mandate for the Democratic Party, not a mandate for some ideology, but a mandate to stop the divisiveness and to roll up our sleeves and get some work done ... this is going to resound for years."

    Dems take Washoe in registration

The Nevada Dems have taken Washoe County.  In registration, that is.

Anjeanette Damon has the full story here

For the lazy: The Democratic lead was 958 votes by 2:45pm Monday, but the fact that there is a Democratic majority at all is the big news.  The last time that happenned was in 1978.

Registration does not equal votes, but the clear trend is from bad to worse for the Nevada GOP this year.

ACORN offices in Las Vegas raided

The Associated Press is reporting that Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also also called ACORN, had their offices raided today by agents of Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller.  The story reports that investigators are looking for evidence of voter registration fraud.

Jon Ralston has a follow up on his blog that shows ACORN hiring ex-convicts, including those with expertise in identity theft.
