Day trading with Andrew Martin

Andrew Martin has to be floored at the irony.

A recap of the path this has taken:
Martin enters race for CD-3 against Jon Porter as self-funded gadfly. When establishment candidate withdraws, Martin is passed over for someone he won't run against, and switches to challenge Chad Christensen in order to give a green flag to Dina Titus for the clear CD-3 nod. He's a decent candidate against Christensen, but mostly because he can self-fund.

At the last minute, Christensen doesn't file, changing the game completely.

Today's subject: Monica Moradkhan, executive director of the Republican Assembly Caucus.

LAS VEGAS -- If Democrats fail to reach the veto-proof majority in the Assembly they've been craving for years, a good bit of the credit for it will belong to Monica Moradkhan. Moradkhan has served as executive director of the Republican Assembly Caucus since 2006, an unlikely vocation for the onetime UNLV hotel administration major.

"I've always had an interest in politics," said Moradkhan, 28. "It started in high school when I was on the student council and student body president."

Back-to-back GOP fundraisers planned

It will be a busy week for the GOP fundraising machine after filing for office closes next month.

The GOP Senate Caucus has just sent out a 'save the date' e-mail for a May 21 event to be hosted in Reno.  The host committee includes Governor Jim Gibbons and all five former governors, including two Democrats.

Subtle message here:  Raggio is coming back.
