Another Dem. to announce for Assembly District 21

Assemblymen Moises Denis and Ruben Kihuen speak with 21st District Assembly candidate Shirley BreedenAssemblymen Moises Denis and Ruben Kihuen speak with 21st District Assembly candidate Shirley BreedenLAS VEGAS – Shirley Breeden, director of professional development education for the Clark County School District, will announce “in the next week or two” her candidacy for the 21st Assembly District seat currently held by Republican Assemblyman Bob Beers.

Breeden’s candidacy will add to an already crowded field in the district. Jonathan Ozark, who in 2006 lost an election in the 10th Assembly District, is challenging Beers in a Republican primary, and now there will be a Democratic primary between Breeden and Henderson Democratic Club president Ellen Spiegel.

“We have a lot of serious issues that we’re facing,” said Spiegel, “and we need creative, hardworking people who know how to ask hard-hitting questions to find out what’s going on and come up with some unique solutions.”

R-J reports on '08 Assembly races

The Review-Journal’s Molly Ball reports that Republican Sean Fellows, an ex-police officer, will challenge Assemblywoman Susan Gerhardt in District 29, that ex-Assemblyman Bob Seale has dropped plans to challenge Assemblyman Bob Beers in the District 21 GOP primary, and that Jonathan Ozark “who last year lost a bid to unseat Democrat Joe Hogan in District 10” will run.
