Loux: No money for nuclear waste

Contrary to what Chuck Muth is saying in his column, there is not and never has been any money coming our way for accepting nuclear waste, says Bob Loux of the Nuclear Projects office.

Muth has commented in his blog about Yucca Mountain, and has started a seperate web portal to explore the idea of accepting the dump and developing nuclear fuel reprocessing in Nevada.

According to Loux, the question of taking the money is moot because "the money" is an urban legend.  “There is no money,” he said. “There has never been any money.”

Top nuke defender quits

Bob Loux, head of the Nevada Nuclear Projects Agency, has resigned as a result of a scandal about unauthorized pay hikes for he and his staff.

Loux raised pay for employees of his agency by 16 percent last year, which was above the pay raises authorized by the state Legislature.
