Nevada races to watch in 2008

RENO -- Filing done, the top races in the state have come into focus and politics-watchers have a lot to look forward to this season.

Reeling from three consecutive special election losses, congressional Republicans will have their hands full holding on to the 3rd congressional district and, in a watershed year, the 2nd. Control of the state Senate rests on the thinnest of one-seat majorities, and the Democrats' coveted "veto-proof" majority is only one pick-up away. Marilyn Dondero Loop Announces Candidacy for Assembly District 5

Marilyn Dondero Loop, a retired elementary school teacher, has announced her candidacy for Assembly District 5, the open seat being vacated by Assemblywoman Valerie Weber. Dondero Loop is a Democrat.

            A native of Las Vegas, Dondero Loop taught in the Clark County School District for 30 years. She currently works for a publisher of education instructional materials. She is the mother of three daughters and has one granddaughter.
