GOVERNOR TO ADDRESS PEOPLE OF NEVADA

(Carson City, NV) - Governor Jim Gibbons will address the people of Nevada live in a televised and radio broadcast at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, on the eve of the Special Session of the Legislature he has called to help address the state's budget shortfall.

The address will be given from the Governor's office in Carson City and will be available to all broadcast outlets through a pool provided by KLAS-TV in Las Vegas.

"I'd like to thank in advance all broadcast outlets that carry the address, and particularly the Nevada Broadcasters Association for helping facilitate the address," the Governor said.

Nevada Broadcasters Association CEO Bob Fisher said it's important for television and radio outlets to participate in this public discussion as the state prepares to address one of the worst fiscal crises in Nevada history.

"During his inaugural address, the Governor talked about One Nevada," Fisher said. "Broadcasters have the ability to help keep this state unified, and I'm glad they're stepping up to the plate to play their part."

Last week the state Economic Forum revised revenue projections for the current biennium identifying an additional budget shortfall of nearly $250 million. The Governor will call the Legislature into Special Session at 9 a.m. Friday to give all lawmakers a voice in how the state meets this additional shortfall.
