RENO-While John McCain was speaking at a town hall meeting in Reno, the other side of town saw slightly more than 50 Northern Nevadans protesting his visit and the continuing Iraq War.
"The idea is that as McCain's visit is reported, the other side is presented also," said Chris Wicker, chairman of the Washoe Democratic Party, who helped organize the protest. "We're out here so that people represent that the ‘Straight Talk Express' is really the ‘Pretzel Talk Express.'"
Although most of the protesters were Democrats, several Ron Paul signs were seen among the crowd, one held by Juanita Cox, chairwoman of the Storey County Republican Party.
"I'm for peace. I've always been for peace," said Cox. "I will never support Sen. McCain. He is not a Republican, nor a conservative."

YOU ROCK, JAUNITA!!!
Pathetic
Jeez...My granddaughter's birthday party had more people than this show up. And who's the wierdo in the blue hat? No wonder "normal" people don't go to these thingys.
These normal people
are protesting a Bush clone whose presidency would directly threaten your granddaughter's future. You should thank them for caring about democracy, not throw brickbats.
Is he really a bush clone?
McCain/Kennedy
McCain/Feingold
The Gang of 14
Can we really call him a "Bush Clone"?
When it comes to this year's election for President there are going to be several factors for McCain, and the democrats shouldn't bother with the Bush Clone approach, because conservatives aren't buying it and moderates aren't buying it.
I am a true conservative and am to the right of McCain and Bush on economic issues and it doesn't take much to be to the right of McCain on social issues. So your best bet is not to use the Bush Clone theory because moderates just won't buy it.
Yes. As a matter of fact, he is.
Enjoy the Bush-McCain challenge.

Your difficulty in locating McCain accurately on the issues is understandable because he has changed course repeatedly since this election cycle began.
I used to think he was kind of OK, but his pandering, flip-flopping and poor command of basic facts about Iraq is painful to watch.
Rather than hold their noses and vote for McCain, I wonder if some true conservatives will consider Bob Barr on the Libertarian ticket.
Bush Clone
Well that was a fun little challenge. Of course everything is HIGHLY liberally charged and thus not shocking to see how the questions were worded and the liberal spin they were given.
I could easily make up a survey comparing Obama to Hitler and you'd be surprised to see how many people would not be able to tell the difference. Of course the German people were actually suffering from a true economic depression when Hitler started saying things like "hope and change" for the German people. With Obama you are looking at an economic issue created by the media and the democratic congress.
Just so you know, this is the person who posted the first "Bush Clone?" comment. I just decided to use a different name, not to avoid people being able to know who I am, but because I like the name Young Conservative better.
Hi Young Con
Look up Godwin's Law if you have a minute.
http://rationalwiki.com/wiki/Godwin%27s_Law
Citing Hitler/Nazis to support one's position in a discussion of American political candidates is an admission that you've got nothing substantial to offer and a sign of intellectual immaturity as well.
This brief survey of common rhetorical fallacies might interest you, too.

Have a great day.
Godwin's Law
It is a rather good thing that I don't necessarily follow Godwin's law, however allow me to explain.
I would however like an explanation as to how a comparison between Obama and Hitler *both human beings, both good speakers, both spoke of hope and change* versus a comparision between McCain and a carrot *a food incapable of thought and that has never lead or attempted to lead a nation* could possibly have an outcome where the carrot wins.
I was not bringing up an Obama/Hitler reference to subtract from Obama's image. I was doing it to disqualify the Bush-McCain challenge that I took from a previous posted comment. If one can argue that a debate is lost when you bring up Hitler as a comparative tool, then surely attempting to use a carrot as one in the Bush-McCain challenge takes away ALL substance from it.
Northern Nut Cases!
It's the Northern Nevadans that gave us the worst U.S. President, Bush (twice) and the worst Governor in our history - so, many of us here in the South have come to the logical conclusion that 72% of Nevadans can NOT count on enough Northern Nevadans to vote smart!
Northern Nevada and the rurals, clearly, are way behind the power curve and have a lot of work to do! May I politely suggest you start by cleaning up your own houses, getting organized and actually start doing the necessary work to build the ability to GOTV (Get Out The Vote)?
Please keep pushing back and building your base - but, don't expect any degree of respect you have not earned - and good luck!
The carrot is a "bonus" round.
and meant to be funny. The similarity between Bush and McCain which is based on their words is factual. But thank you for checking it out.
Look, McCain has trouble remembering the difference between Sunni and Shi'ia. Today, he said the troops were at pre-surge levels. They are not. He makes repeated mistakes about current affairs that anyone who reads the newspaper regularly would know. Bush has the same problem with factual errors. Like there were WMD in Iraq and Iraq had something to do with the 9/11 attacks.
Factual Errors
When it comes to factual errors, which happens to candidates in both parties, they are countless. Obama goes around talking about the 57 states in the U.S., a CLEAR factual error, he gets to skate by in the media and the truth of it doesn't reach the ears of the American people.
And if we want to go back to the WMD's and President Bush, then lets bring up the fact that in the post 9/11 atmosphere, everyone thought the same thing and the intelligence that Bush read is the same intelligence that Hillary Clinton read when she voted for the war in Iraq and then switched sides when it became an unpopular issue.
Back to the Obama and 57 states, if McCain had made that exact slip-up, it would be all over the news as "McCain is old and senile and doesn't know how many states there are in the Union". So when it comes to factual errors, bringing them up in a presidential election is not going to be the DNC's strong point.
