LAS VEGAS-- Filing began this morning for non-judicial candidates in the Silver State, officially kicking off the election season. Check back regularly throughout the day with PolitickerNV.com for a list of filed candidates.
And be sure to check back at the end of the day for a summary.
Newly filed candidates in Clark and Washoe Counties:
Congressional District 3: Yet another Democrat, Carlo "Tex" Poliak, has filed to face Nevada Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus in the CD3 primary. Poliak had previously run against former Gov. Kenny Guinn in the 2002 primary, then as a Republican.
Senate District 3: Despite months of speculation about a possible retirement, the grand old man of the grand old party, state Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio filed today for reelection.
Senate District 6: Republican State Sen. Bob Beers has filed for reelection.
Assembly District 9: Democratic Assemblyman Tick Segerblom has filed for reelection.
Assembly District 17: Republican David Isbell has filed to challenge Democratic Assemblyman Kelvin Atkinson.
Assembly District 18: Republican Tim Williams has filed to challenge Assemblyman Mark Manendo, if Manendo runs for reelection. Manendo is "seriously considering" running for Senate District 7.
Assembly District 28: Democratic Assemblyman Mo Denis has filed for reelection.

District 32
You failed to mention (or more likely, I failed to find mention of) Mike Webber who filed for his third attempt at winning my district. While I agree with Webber's past statements about the need for our Assemblyman or woman to come from the suburbs they represent, I have to question whether Webber is the right person for the job.
I would like to see a young talented Republican who can take and hold our district beyond the foreseeable future as we lose Townsen, Raggio, and Marvel. A candidate like Ty Cobb could do very well in our district. However, I don't see Webber doing that - especially if he ever faces a solid Democratic challenger. (Note: the fiasco that was the Republican convention last month didn't help his chances)
I felt like Mike Sprinkle, who ran in 2006, would have easily defeated Webber if the two had faced in the general.
I don't know much about the other candidates for D32 but would like to learn more.
