Press Release

Andrew Martin Launches Bid for Nevada Assembly District 13

Release Date: May 5 2008

Las Vegas, NV, May 5, 2008 - Today, Andrew Martin submitted his candidate filing for Assembly District 13 with the Clark County Election Department as a Democrat. Andrew is the managing partner of Martin & Wall, P.C., Certified Public Accountants, a firm with offices in Las Vegas, NV, Chicago, IL, and Washington, DC. Andrew is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and successful entrepreneur. His professional career spans over 20 years and has been dedicated to building effective businesses, holding public agencies accountable through the audit process, rooting out waste, fraud and abuse in the public and private sectors, and helping small business owners and working families prosper.

On why he is running, Andrew stated: "The incumbent Assembly District 13 representative has failed to lead and failed to serve the best interests of our community. Change is needed to bring about accountable and effective government. I believe my experience creating successful businesses, working with small business owners and working families on tax, financial and business matters, and auditing organizations receiving taxpayer dollars will provide a fresh perspective and important skill set in the State Legislature."

Martin continued: "Nevada faces many challenges. As I travel the district talking to my neighbors, they express extreme anxiety over threats to their standard of living and quality of life: a weakening economy that could cost them their job, their home and their health insurance; the inability to get a mortgage or small business loan; and skyrocketing food and energy costs. They ask me why our schools are ranked amongst the lowest in the nation and almost half a million Nevadans have no health insurance. They ask me why we are not making major investments in Nevada's abundance of solar, wind and geothermal energy. I fully understand if there were easy solutions to these challenges, our elected officials would have already acted. But there are no easy solutions. I humbly ask for the support of the constituents of Assembly District 13 to send me to Carson City to roll up my sleeves and put my financial expertise and entrepreneurial skills to use to develop and implement innovative programs to improve our community."

Andrew is also very involved in our community. He is a founding board member of the Sara B. Finn Dental Health Center, a start up non-profit that will provide dental services to the needy. He is an active member of Red Rock Democratic Club, Paradise Democratic Club, the Clark County Democratic Party, and a member of the Nevada State Democratic Party Central Committee.

Andrew continued: "I believe AD 13 is a very winnable race. I have over 100 dedicated volunteers and well developed programs for fundraising, canvassing and phone banking. I am out there talking to voters everyday and am receiving enthusiastic responses to my discussions on economic development, education, health care and renewable energy."
