LAS VEGAS-- Filing began this morning for non-judicial candidates in the Silver State, officially kicking off the election season. Check back regularly throughout the day with PolitickerNV.com for a list of filed candidates.
Newly filed candidates in Clark and Washoe Counties:
Congressional District 1: Edward "Mr. Clean" Hamilton has joined Ray Kornfeld in filing to take on Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.). Two more Republican candidates are expected.
Congressional District 3: Ex-felon Barry Michaels has filed to take on Jon Porter in CD3. Expect him to receive something less than 15 percent of the vote against Nevada Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus, who has yet to file, in the Democratic primary.
Senate District 7A: Assemblyman David Parks has filed to succeed Titus in this overwhelmingly Democratic district. Fellow Assemblyman Mark Manendo has not filed as yet, but has been "seriously considering" it. Democrat Steve Nathan has also filed for the seat.
Assembly District 2: Former Clark County GOP chief John Hambrick has filed for former Assembly Republican Leader Garn Mabey's seat. Democrat Carlos Blumberg has also filed.
Assembly District 14: Assemblywoman Ellen Koivisto has filed for reelection.
Assembly District 17: Democratic Assemblyman Kelvin Atkinson has filed for reelection in this northeastern Clark County district.
Assembly District 26: Republican Assemblyman Ty Cobb has filed for reelection.
Assembly District 28: Republican Augustin "Tino" Mendoza has filed to challenge Assemblyman Denis Moises.
Assembly District 32: Republican Michael Nance has filed to challenge Assemblyman John Marvel in the rural 32nd Assembly District.
