Filing day!

LAS VEGAS-Filing began this morning for non-judicial candidates in the Silver State, officially kicking off the election season.  Check back regularly throughout the day with PolitickerNV.com for a list of filed candidates.

Filed thus far:

Congressional District 1: Republican Ray Kornfeld has filed for Congresswoman Shelley Berkley's seat.  Kornfeld is one of four Republicans expected to file.

Senate District 3: Democrat Valerie Wiener has filed, putting to rest for once and for all rumors of retirement.

Senate District 7A: Republican Louis "Lou" Toomin has filed for his tenth straight election, this time for the senate seat being vacated by Democrat Dina Titus.

Assembly District 2: Democrat Carlos Blumberg has filed for former Assembly Republican Leader Garn Mabey's seat. Mabey, retiring this year, will likely support former Clark County Republican chief John Hambrick.  Blumberg will likely be facing Democrat Sanje Sedaya in a Democratic primary.

Assembly District 8: Republican Jim Jonas has tossed his hat in the ring to face Democratic Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley.

Assembly District 9: Republican Jefferson Lee is running in his fourth straight election, this year challenging Democrat Tick Segerblom.

Assembly District 10: Democratic Assemblyman Joe Hogan has filed for reelection.

Clark County Commission B: Democrat Tom Collins has filed for another term on the commission.

Clark County Commission C: Las Vegas City Councilman Larry Brown has filed to succeed Chip Maxfield in District C.  Brown will likely face Republican Valerie Weber.
