‘Tis the season of annoying political calls
From this creaky old chair in my second floor office, I can easily think of two jobs that I wouldn't be particularly interested in doing.
The first is backing up a semi. Because our loading dock is directly beneath my office, I watch this small drama occur several times each day as the trucks deliver newsprint and ink. JOHN L. SMITH: Though forced off the ballot, Woodbury remains key to commission race Political strategies can be made to sound so complex. I'll try to reduce the Clark County Commission District A race to its simplest terms. Democrat Steve Sisolak, you have a lot of work to do and had better hope the voter turnout surge for the presidential election lifts your Democratic dingy. (Review Journal, John L. Nevadan recalls POW ordeal ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Here's how Nevada Republican delegate Bill Elander describes becoming a prisoner of war: a bad day. "I was shot down in 1972 and captured right over Hanoi." (Review Journal, Molly Ball) Link: http://www.lvrj.com/news/27901419.html
Raggio challenge rejected CARSON CITY -- A legal challenge aimed at keeping veteran state Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio off the ballot this year was rejected Thursday by the Nevada Supreme Court. The high court tossed out the challenge filed by retired Reno labor union member George Bethurum, noting that its July ruling on term limits cleared the re-election path for the Reno Republican and many other longtime state lawmakers who are in at least their 12th year in current elective posts. PAUL, Minn. — In a characteristic understated tone that belied the jubilant mood of the crowd surrounding him, U.S. Sen. John McCain accepted the Republican nomination tonight in a speech that sought to move beyond partisanship in an appeal to voters who have yet to make up their minds.
