WASHINGTON -- Yvonne Gates, of Las Vegas, said that being a member of the Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws nationally televised meeting Saturday was both stressful and exciting.
The meeting, which was held at a Washington hotel, decided whether or not delegates from Florida and Michigan would be seated at the national convention even though both states brazenly defied party rules set by this committee. Clinton won both states and wanted both states to have all their votes counted.
"It was exciting from the standpoint that you had two great campaigns and you had a number of us who were undecided," said Gates in an interview. "The role those of us who were undecided were to bring the two sides together and get a consensus."
The committee met privately Friday night for dinner and a long conversation that lasted until 1:30 a.m. Eight hours later the nationally televised meeting began and ended 10 hours later.
Gates said she didn't expect the votes today to have any impact on Nevada's newfound early caucus state status.
I got a call from my cousin Wally in Colorado last night right as I was in the middle of heating up my Hungry-Man dinner.

clinton supporters
I'll bet it was stressful. It wasn't about the voters for Ickes or the screaming basket cases in the audience. it was clearly about Clinton (ahhh so much for it being about civil liberties!!), and that disgusts me. Like Wexler said, his case was for the voters, all campaigns aside. And I ask those screaming basket cases, 'is this how you respond every time something in your lives doesn't go exactly as you planned? do you throw down with fits and screams and fists flying? Is that how YOU think a democracy should be run? And the threat to go McCain or whatever: reallY? jeopardizing your civil rights as a woman to make a point about what? what traitors you are? how little your principles must mean to you? note: that kind of emotion is NEVER accompanied by logical resolution. as a woman, and an educated woman, I laughed at you yesterday. You have yet to reach womenhood.'
re: clinton supporters
here here!!! how ugly can they make it? this meeting was as fair as democracy gets, considering that MI and FL violated the rules and could have walked away with nothing. of COURSE Hillary and her supporters made this about her! amen to the lack of logic. i love how hillary has taken digs at obama for months now, unethical, lying, brutal attacks. Obama REFRAINED! YET, Hillary's supporters fire back stating Obama's been the one with the unethical behavior! Where are the brain cells? THIS IS CALLED HILLARY'S MANIPULATION GAME, and you all fell for it! way to go! way to teach your kids something useful!
re: clinton supporters
Hillary's supporters are as entitled as she is. these are folks who clearly have few coping skills, and probably few meaninful relationships. I mean, honestly, did you see them yesterday? the behavior was grossly inappropriate and downright stupid.
clinton's chances
wow a few smart folks here, for once!!! yea!!!!! now maybe we can move on and get this process going, without egos in the way. although, here's what I predict: unless HRC gets those four delegate votes back from MI, she will take this to Denver. If Obama throws them back at her to shut her up, she'll claim she has the popular vote, which she doesn't now nor would she then, and she'll take it to Denver. seriously what is wrong with this woman?
Disgusted
Can I tell you how relieving it is to read these comments? I agree 100%! I believe that Florida and Michigan should not have been seated because they did, in fact, BREAK THE RULES! Just like everyone else, there are consequences when rules are broken. The decision to seat them, but give them a half a vote, was more than enough, and yet it wasn't enough for Clinton supporters.
I am so sure that if it were reversed, Obama supporters would not be acting inappropriately, as Clinton supporters did. And if it were reversed, Clinton supporters would not give a darn about their votes.
They acted like my 7-year old when she doesn't get her way. What kind of message is this setting for us, and for elections to come? Pout and throw temper tantrums when your delegate doesn't win? What about getting a Democrat in there to make some changes that we so desperatly need, and supporting each other? Clinton and her supporters make me sick. I truly hope that superdelegates watching this display see what kind of people support her, and what kind of presence she will bring to the White House. SHe is acting like a very sore loser, and not very graceful at all. When did she stop being a grown-up?
