Emanuel to stand with Titus during education event Wednesday

U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) will stand beside congressional candidate Dina Titus as she receives the endorsement of the Nevada Education Association at a press conference Wednesday afternoon, her campaign announced Tuesday.

Titus (D-Henderson) will get the nod from the state's teachers' union at a 2 p.m. event in Las Vegas.

The presence of Emanuel, chair of the House Democratic Caucus, is yet another sign that the national Democratic organization is supporting Titus' bid to unseat incumbent U.S. Rep. Jon Porter (R-Henderson).

A statement from the Titus campaign says that the state senator will use the event to discuss the Democratic Party's commitment to a greater investment in education at the federal level.

Titus has been locked in a tight battle with Porter since she jumped into the race in the spring. She has received financial support from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Now maybe if everyone knew

Now maybe if everyone knew that we spent about $10,000 a year on our children's public education while about 43% of them can't even read by the 5th grade...people would be less excited about such an endorsement.
