Poll: McCain and Obama separated by just one point
By Daniel TrudeauA new poll shows U.S. Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.) are in a near dead heat in the race for Nevada's electoral votes.
The poll of 600 likely voters, conducted by The Reno Gazette-Journal and KTVN, shows Obama leading McCain, 44 percent to 43 percent. With the 4-percent margin of error, the poll shows the race to be a toss-up.
The poll shows Obama with a seven-point lead in Clark County, while McCain holds a one-point advantage in Washoe County.
Both candidates had similiar favorability ratings according to the poll. Each hovered near the 50-percent mark.
Nevada, which has gone to President Bush in each of the last two elections, is considered a possible swing state by both campaigns and could help determine the outcome of the entire election.
