A pro-union political action group is staging a series of public events around Nevada attacking U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) over the next several days, hitting the presumptive Republican presidential nominee on foreclosers, Yucca Mountain, and his support for Gov. Jim Gibbons (R).
The "Change to Win" campaign, a joint effort from seven major unions, will be holding protests in Reno, Carson City, Las Vegas and Pahrump between Monday and Thursday, according to a release issued by the group.
The Nevada events will kick off a series of similar rallies in battleground states across the country.
On Wednesday, the group will stage a "Jim Gibbons" rally in Carson City, seeking to highlight McCain's past support for the embattled governor. In the release, the group said the two share "anti-worker" principles.
On Thursday, protestors will stage a "Yucca Mountain disaster prep" event in Pahrump in an effort to draw attention to statements McCain has made in favor of storing nuclear waste at the nearby site.
The "Change to Win" website says the campaign is not affiliated with any party or candidate, but the group has endorsed McCain's opponent, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
