Titus campaign touts fundraising numbers, claims to outpace Porter

The congressional campaign of state Sen. Dina Titus (D-Henderson) is touting its July fundraising numbers as a sign that Titus is pulling away from Republican opponent, U.S. Rep. Jon Porter (R-Henderson).

The Nevada Democratic Party released a statement Tuesday saying Titus outraised Porter in July and holds a $200,000 edge over the incumbent since she joined the race in May.

Titus' campaign submitted a Federal Election Commission report at the end of July showing fundraising returns of more than $710,000, the Nevada Democratic Party said. In the same period, Porter shows donations of $511,682, the statement said.

In a statement released with the figures, Nevada Democratic Party Executive Director Travis Brock tied Porter to the unpopular policies of the Bush administration and said Titus is the candidate with the most popular support.

"Congressman Jon Porter has consistently voted for President George Bush's stay the course agenda in Iraq and helped oil companies at the expense of families paying sky high gas prices," Brock said.

"Titus is out raising Porter because Nevadans know she will bring real change to Washington and fight for Nevadans struggling to make ends meet in the Bush-Porter economy.''

Last week, Titus' campaign released the results of an internal poll which gave the Democrat a lead, and national campaign watchers predict the race will be among the tighest congressional battles in the country.

Your Headline Sucks.

Touts and claims are skeevy words that cast doubt on the assertion. What you should have said is:

Titus campaign fundraising numbers outpace Porter.

Unless you think that the FEC is giving false information to make the claim?

You wasted two words just to be bitchy. You need to be slapped with a Strunk and White.

So money is all that matters?

Both of these candidates are wastes of time. Same old crap every 2 years. These big money candidates run around acting like they know our problems but never have any solutions except what some party think tank hands to them.

When is someone going to step up and take on these career politicians? We need a real person that actually deals with the things that Americans in the street deal with.

None of the Above!
