Smith sees Clinton speech as opportunity

DENVER - State Assemblywoman Debbie Smith (D-Sparks) supported Barack Obama in the hotly contested Democratic primary. When Hillary Clinton delivers her keynote speech tonight, Smith said, Clinton will have the opportunity to bring her supporters to Obama’s side.

“She has the ability to bring the delegates along and give them some inspiration,” Smith said in the lobby of the Marriott hotel this morning.

“I thought (Clinton’s) concession speech was amazing and I think she has the ability to do the same thing tonight.”

Smith is a three-term assemblywoman who represents the Washoe County area. She is here to attend the Democratic National Convention, where she is a delegate-alternate.
